Conflict of Interest Statement

Wild Ones River City Local Conflict of Interest Statement

Adopted May 12, 2017 • Revised October 28, 2021 to reflect name change to Wild Ones River City (WORC)

Wild Ones River City (WORC) currently has several members who own native plant businesses. We wish to have them thrive so that we have local vendors to meet our members’ needs. WORC is also bound by the By-laws of its parent organization, Wild Ones, which state the following:

  • No Wild Ones member, officer or director or their agent(s), nor any chapter thereof, while acting on behalf of Wild Ones, shall sell, advertise or otherwise promote any product or service at any Wild Ones sanctioned event, that does not directly and solely benefit Wild Ones.
  • No officer, director or member of Wild Ones shall permit any person, partnership or entity to use the name of Wild Ones, or otherwise endorse said product or service on behalf of Wild Ones.
  • The prohibition of items 1 and 2 may be waived only by the express permission of the Executive Committee of Wild Ones and can be granted only if the proposed activity or product is consistent with the Wild Ones mission.

WORC Meetings:

Wild Ones River City permits member business owners producing native plant seed, propagating native plants, planning landscape design, and/or installing native landscapes to share a business card with prospective clients during WORC meetings, or member field trips, or garden tours. We request that discussion of private projects, goods or services take place outside of our meetings, field trips or garden tours. Business cards shall not be made available en masse at WORC handout tables.

WORC Presentations:

Wild Ones River City permits member business owners producing native plant seed, propagating native plants, planning landscape design, and/or installing native landscapes to distribute the WORC prepared list of local business vendors. This list includes contact information for their business, and all other member and regional native plant related businesses. Member business owners may hand out business cards personally to individuals requesting them.

Disclaimer:

Wild Ones River City is a chapter of Wild Ones, a non-profit, tax exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(C) (3.) As such, Wild Ones River City does not endorse or promote any business entity which produces or markets native plants or seeds, or which provides landscape design or installation services. The list of local vendors is provided for informational purposes only, and Wild Ones River City disclaims any and all liability for the quality of planning, materials, or workmanship of businesses included in its list of local vendors.
