Notes: Dwarf Crested Iris has a diminutive size—it only grows to 6 inches high. The blue-violet flower’s sepals have a white patch and gold crest and are framed by blades of green foliage. It easily forms a groundcover in the right conditions—partial shade and medium-moist soil. This plant does not like wet feet. In the fall, propagate by rhizome division when you see the leaves die back. Use this plant in partly shaded areas of rock gardens, woodlands or in a perennial border with other low growing species. Under ideal conditions, the plants can live up to 10 years.
