Notes:
Short’s Aster is found in dry woodlands and savannas. Its leaf margins are mostly smooth in comparison to most other asters in woodlands. Growing up to 3 feet, its compound flowers are about 3/4–1” across and are grouped in clusters. The flower centers start out yellow, but after being pollinated, they turn dark red. Short’s Aster readily self-sows. It benefits pollinators and birds eat the seeds. Plant with Zig Zag Goldenrod and Pennsylvania Sedge.
